West Barr Caravan Park
West Barr Holiday Park has been running as a caravan site since 1961 by the Stewart family and has grown over the years. In October 2007 Ean & Joyce took over the site and decided to completely upgrade with hard standing bases, piped gas, electricity, water and sewage. Each pitch has its own gravelled parking space for clean and easy access to your holiday home by the sea. There are many sea front pitches to choose from and also five pitches over-looking the pond - beautiful on a summers evening. The park is open 11 months of the year (closed Feb) and caters for those who own their own holiday home. Free Wifi now available at West Barr, installed and run by 'The Networking Company'.
The Loch Ryan Oyster Company
Loch Ryan has been producing some of the finest Native Oysters (Ostrea edulis) for many years. In 1701 King William III gave the bed to the Wallace family, and it has been in the family ever since. The crew in Loch Ryan fish from a 12m fishing boat, the “Vital Spark” and harvest about 400,000 oysters per season. The main focus has been to relay stock, and on average 95% of the catch is reseeded for future years.
